Bin size planning guide
The former site described specific bins, but inventory and dimensions cannot be treated as current. A better planning process begins with the project.
- List material types and separate restricted or dense loads.
- Estimate loose volume, accounting for air space around bulky items.
- Estimate weight; masonry, soil and roofing can reach limits before a bin looks full.
- Measure gate width, overhead wires, slope and turning space.
- Confirm whether street placement needs municipal permission.
- Ask the current provider for internal dimensions, fill line, weight allowance and prohibited items in writing.
Allow a margin for uncertainty. Overfilled or overweight containers create transport and safety problems.
